Brother Josh Peniston raised his right hand and promised to,” …further the purposes for which the IBEW is instituted,” on February 8, 1997, and his actions speak louder than his words. Josh has Vote for the Unity Club Candidates!volunteered to represent your Local Union on construction sites both large and small, a challenging appointment vital to protecting you and your Local Unions interests, but one that often results in unforeseen consequences. Josh’s ability to navigate these waters and maintain equity has garnered him high praise from site managers, our members, and his employers.

Josh’s success as a union steward would lead Business Manager Frank Jacobs to enroll him in the Construction Organizing Membership Education Training (COMET) “Train-the-Trainer” class in Kansas City, Missouri. Since that time, Josh has joined Chris Clermont and Frankie Valleroy to teach the COMET Certification class to our graduating apprentices. Josh’s mentorship of our young apprentices would lead to a charitable effort this past year that would culminate in the IBEW being placed in the limelight on every local media outlet. Teaming up with officers of our Apprenticeship Social Club, Josh spearheaded a fundraising campaign that raised over $5000 to purchase toys for Saint Louis Children’s Hospital Child Life Services, aptly named, THE BJC TOY DRIVE.

A generational IBEW member whose Great Grandfather was a lineman for the railroad, Josh continues a long Peniston family tradition of service to the IBEW in Saint Louis. On his selection by the Business Manager for the position of Examining Board Officer, Josh had this to say, “The IBEW to me is not just a profession, it’s a lifestyle! You only get out of it what you put in, that’s why being an Officer for this membership is such a great honor. I will work as hard as I can to represent this great Local and its membership to the best of my ability!”

A married father of 3 who spent time away from his family on the road during our lean years, Josh now makes time to hunt with his son and daughter and coaches their soccer team!

Business Manager Frank Jacobs and the Unity Club recommend Josh Peniston for Officer on your Local Union Examining Board.
